Showcasing Crafts in Florida

By Sam Weyland

Florida has always been a favorite vacation spot in the United States; and why not? Our Sunshine State's warm weather makes it an ideal place of relaxation. The prominence of beaches makes your stay here a lot more fun, and the various fairs and festivals are common all year round.

Some of you may wish to begin a small business in this state, one that utilizes your skill. Why not earn a little extra, after all? if this is the case, then perhaps the best way that you'll spend your time in Florida is by joining these festivals. All you have to do is have some craft to sell, whether a knack for carving or a skill with cooking, go to the event organizer, and set up a booth. Sounds easy, yes?

Well, it's not. Like many other businesses, this will require at least some work on your part, starting with producing some output based on your crafting talent. For example, I know someone who continuously spends a good time making the accessories that she makes for fairs. She does have a constant supply, and she is able to sell it for decent profit. This is something that you should do as well.

Next, you'll want to contact the event organizer for the fair you're eyeing. What comes with the rental of the booth? Will it include chairs and a table? Would you have access to an electrical outlet? Will they be asking for a percentage of the sales? These things need to be asked, because sometimes they don't provide these things. It is better for you to know beforehand, rather than be surprised after you pay up the fees.

Once you get there, it's important for you to be able to showcase your crafts properly. Just putting your crafts on display, and then hoping that customers arrive by magic, is not good thinking. Make it presentable using your own means, and talk to potential customers without overbearing. - 15790
