Using Directories To Recruit Affiliates

By Charles McDuffie

Are you finding it difficult to recruit affiliates for your particular program or opportunity? If so, one method you should consider in attracting them is having your affiliate program posted in as many directories as possible. These directories usually won't cost you anything to have your program listed, but there are certain guidelines you'll have to meet.

There are around forty directories for affiliate program listings. If you want to put into action your ideas regarding how to recruit affiliates, you must be listed on the directories. Furthermore, you must ensure that you're listed under the right category.

The Directories

If you're interested in having your affiliate program listed, remember that most directories won't list sites containing adult content. Many don't list gambling sites either. Many of these directories also wouldn't allow affiliates to submit the affiliate program.

Finally, most of these directories won't list affiliate programs which are paying commissions on more than 2-levels. So now that you're clear about this aspect of how to recruit affiliates we can move to the next.

Tips To Help You Get Listed

Once you've requested to be listed by the directories, your request will be reviewed by the editors of each directory, so be sure you've met all the requirements for acceptance. Here are a few tips to keep in mind to make sure this process goes as smoothly as possible. The last thing you want to have happen, is for all your efforts to be in vain.

Before you submit your request make sure that your program is ready. Ensure that the sign-up page is working and that the sales are being logged. Check your pages for any spelling or grammatical errors, and make sure that your logos and banners are visible.

Your site should have an affiliate information page. This page should carry a brief description about your product or service. It should clearly state the terms and conditions of your program. Commission and payment terms should be clearly specified and it should have a link to your home page. This is the most crucial point of how to recruit affiliates.

The category that you select for your affiliate program should match what you're selling. Take a look at some of the directories and see which category is most suitable for your program. If you're listed under the wrong category, you might not attract that many affiliates.

Along with your request to have your program listed within the directories, you must also be prepared to submit your destination URL, your program description and commission structure. This information is of vital importance for acceptance.

Make sure you've chosen the correct keywords for your program.

Getting your program listed in the various affiliate directories, will indeed go a long way towards helping you to recruit more affiliates. However, getting your program listed under the most appropriate category for your particular program, will have you recruiting more affiliates than you can possible handle. - 15790
