The Ins And Outs Of Properly Managing an AdWords Campaign

By Brian Basch

It is not as easy as you may think to run a successful Adwords campaign. It is far more than just building a short ad around a keyword. There is no doubt that these 3 line ads do make money. However good management is the key.

There are many details to attend to; costs sales conversions, bid comparisons etc. when you pay minute attention to everything in your campaign you will be successful. Be prepared for snap decisions and quick changes.

The quicker you get to the problems and fix them the better you campaign will be. When small problems are caught quickly it will save you a lot of headaches and money. Neglecting your Adwords campaign is one of the worst mistakes you can do. You will be setting yourself up for failure if you do this.

One of the most important aspects of your Adwords campaign is positioning of your ad. You will do this by comparing your ads position to other ads built around the same keyword. Bear in mind that popular keywords can bring up literally 100's of results pages for a searcher. Your success will be dependent on your ad being able to draw a huge number of potential buyers. To achieve this you need to gain maximum exposure.

The average searcher will not usually go beyond the first 5-10 pages. Therefore your ad must be positioned within these 5-10 pages to be effective. Always remember that there are many ads, using the same keywords that are competing against your ad. If there were no competitive ads for a keyword it would mean that that it is too obscure and would attract very few searches. The chances of a sale are high but cost of production would also be too high. In order to get a high position you will need to pay more for your clicks.

In order to get a good position in the search results you will need the necessary skills to bid correctly. Budget and competitor bids will help you to decide how much to spend. When you bid on frequently searched keywords you will get plenty of traffic but also a number of useless leads. This means that you will need to assess the click to sales conversions carefully, and understand the costs involved.

Tracking is vital to your success and will tell you how effective the ad is in drawing leads and sales. All traffic and no sales from your ad will require adjustments. Sometimes you may need to just do a small adjustment for the keywords but at other times larger changes are necessary to make a successful Adwords campaign.

Google makes it easy to track your Adwords advertising campaign. Initially when you launch your campaign you will see all the keywords listed. Google's tracking system will allow you to see how much traffic each keyword is drawing. You can also track sales from here.

So remember these important points, when you use Adwords. They will help you to be successful and run a profitable campaign. A little time spent on your campaign will reap big profits for your business. - 15790
