The Physics behind Frisbee

By Bobbie McKee

Have you ever wondered how the Frisbee flies? The answer is very simple - it's all about Physics. The forward flight of the Frisbee is due to the air that pushes at the leading edge of the disc. The air stays over and under the flying disc.

Since the edge of the disc is tipped up, some of the air is deflected downward and when it pushes downward, the air is again pushed over the disc. The force which allows the Frisbee to fly on air is known as aerodynamic lift. You can compare the flow of the air to the flow of fluids. The air tends to follow curve surfaces. The design of the Frisbee was carefully thought. Because of the bend on the Frisbee, air is easily sucked upwards and downwards thereby making the disc stay afloat despite of the force of gravity. Another good way to describe a Frisbee on flight is the so called 'Bernoulli Effect'.

As a Frisbee player, you must be aware that you can't make a Frisbee fly when it is upside-down. The disc's rotation is also crucial. For instance, if a player throws the Frisbee upright, it will result to a poor flight. The Frisbee will simply flutter and tumble like that of a falling leaf; this is because the aerodynamic force is not perfectly centered. Because of the Frisbee's angular momentum, it can stay on a certain orientation. The flight of the disc is usually affected by the aerodynamic twists and torques.

Because of the disc's ingenious design, the maximum lift is perfectly placed at the toy's middle. The angular momentum of the disc is also maximized because of its thicker edges. The disc also has top ridges and it is not for any design purpose. The ridges introduce microscopic air turbulence above the disc's label. Because of the turbulence, the disc can fly farther and longer on air.

A lot of people are confused with the physics behind the Frisbee and so they would just rather toss and catch a Frisbee rather than think about how the toy works. It's really quite amazing that the Frisbee started as amnempty pie tin and at present, it's flight can only be explained by physics.

If someone asks you how the disc flies, you already have an idea. If you still can't get the concept of aerodynamics, you can simply answer that the Frisbee flies because of its ingenious and complex design; that way, you won't have to go down the details. Still, the aerodynamic concept and the Bernoulli Effect are not really difficult to understand. If you take time to read and comprehend, you will immediately understand how the toy works.

From just a simple toy, the Frisbee is now being played as a sport. In fact, there are many types of Frisbee games today which include Ultimate Frisbee, Flutter Guts, Friskee, Dodge Frisbee, Disc Golf, and a lot more. Because of the disc's ingenious design, it has evolved from being a simple toy to very exciting sports.

Now that you know physics behind the flight of a Frisbee, you will no longer wonder how it is able to withstand the gravity and stay on the air for a long period. Get your very own Frisbee now and play together with friends and even other family members. You can play in your own yard or even at the park. - 15790

Eating Wild Greens

By Ian Kleine

So you are finally geared for getting ready to pick some of the good stuff of the earth. Book and field manual in check, guide ready, family hungry and excited for some frontier cuisine, and stomachs growling in excitement. It's a fine day,and no one is complaining about tired feet and being bored out of their minds. But how do you go cooking it?

The general consensus when dealing with wild greens for most people is to either (a) boil them to death with salt and pepper or (b) cut them and put them in a salad. Trust me, there are other and more delicious ways to prepare greens than just your usual fair. Get yourself a good book and study on it. I'll at least provide some insights for as to what cooking techniques can be used with which vegetables.

Boiling and eating raw in salads wasn't a farce. Most of the wild greens are usually prepared just like that. But wild greens are versatile, just as how many greens there are out there. Depending on their toughness, tenderness, flair, flavor, nutritional value or structure would determine what cooking technique best suits the vegetable.

Take dandelion for example. You wouldn't think that this common 'weed' is actually a very good source of iron and Vitamin A. Dandelions are best eaten during the raw months of March and April. Nope, you don't eat the flowers or seeds (unless you like fluff in your mouth). Dandelion greens are best used in salads.

Dandelion may or may not be a weed, depending on how we use these prolific little plants. Just be careful and ask around first before gathering dandelions. Most homeowners might have sprayed chemicals or herbicides in attempts to eradicate dandelions, and you might ingest it in the process. - 15790

Your Guide to Finding Antiques

By Irene Mmari

It is very important for all antique buyers to understand exactly how antiques become antiques in the first place, yet sadly this is something that not all antique buyers understand. Numerous collectors and dealers waste far too much of their precious time and money looking in the wrong markets for these items, because they think the items will be in great abundance. Many of these antique dealers are well-intentioned, but simply lack a grasp of how antiques originate.

If you want to find fresh-to-the-market antiques and collectibles, you need to go where they are in great abundance, and where they come from! Naturally, they do not start at auctions or flea markets, or even at antique shows. This is something that will remain true for 99 percent of any and all antiques that you will ever run across.

The other simple fact is that most antiques that you are most likely to get a great deal on reside in the homes of people who are older. Speaking in general terms, young people do not own them as much as older people do. Keeping items is part of a long saving tradition found in many older individuals. From the 1950's toys in the closet to the old toaster that was just too good to throw away, older folks still have most of everything they ever owned and this is where antiques originate.

This means that you have a choice, now that you know where antiques are found. Since you are now educated in knowing that antiques come from the homes of elderly individuals, where will you spend the bulk of your time? It did take me years to comprehend the following concepts.

1. Anyone who wants to buy more fresh antiques will need to put themselves in a position where they see a large number of them on a recurrent basis. 2. You'll have to simply look at more and more household accumulations if you wish to achieve this goal. 3. Undoubtedly, you will need to step up your efforts to get into more older people's homes, where the antiques are.

Knowing and understanding these principles will put you light years ahead of your competition! Most of the antique dealers or collectors that I know get their antiques through one of five not very useful methods. You'll likely see your competition looking through their local estate or garage sales, auctions, "pickers", flea markets, and stores such as Goodwill.

. Rather than wasting your time on traditional sources, you will experience a greater degree of success through looking at where the antiques actually come from. Through focusing on that concept alone, you will go much further than you thought! - 15790

Honest uSocial Review

By Alexa Darver

If you've looked into buying Digg votes or increasing your rankings with any other social media site, then you've probably come across uSocial.net who are the Internet's most prominent seller of this kind of service. In this article I'm going to give you the lowdown on who these guys are and what you should know before you buy anything from them.

While votes for Diggs and other sites all average around the same price no matter where you look, uSocial maintain an anverage cost around the same as the competition, with prices being a little lower than most. If you're looking for big savings, you should keep an eye out from time-to-time on their specials, or look at purchasing a larger pack of votes which will enable you to get a better deal for your cash.

Unlike a few of their competitors who are simply misleading when they guarantee you a front-page listing on Digg or another site (which is impossible due to the fact they'd need to control Digg's systems to do so), uSocial offer a votes guarantee and actually state their success rate of getting to the front page honestly on their site. This is another reason I use them as it seems that unlike many others out there, they really have nothing to hide.

I've used uSocial a few times in the past and I can say that I was extremely impressed not only with their service, but because of the traffic I received for my investment. When I only spent under $300 on votes on StumbleUpon, I received around 65,000 visitors to my site in under 24 hours. In the past with PPC advertising, I would have only got 150 vistors for the same investment. I know what I'm going to continue using in the future.

The only downside to uSocial is that as they're extremely busy it took them 4 days from when I placed my order until they actually started voting for me, though you should only think that's because they're providing a great service.

uSocial are in my opinion the fastest and cheapest way to generate a high-volume of web traffic to your site so if you're looking at checking them out, I'd advise you do so. - 15790

Online Forms how to find them effectively!

By Alexa Chevalier

Great news " the form(s) you are looking for are online! Bad news - when you search for online forms you get 60,000,000 results in Google alone. Finding that one form you need, can truly be a discouraging chore.

In comes the role of the search engine " they are there to make your life easier " right? Well yes, if know how to search, then they are an efficient tool to locate that hard to pin down form you are trying to find. Here are some hints and tips to find what you require.

Step 1 - be as explicit as possible. Fuzzy searches can be frustrating and unsuccessful.

Step 3 - Always search for two or more words (ideally two " six). If you search for a single word, you will retrieve millions of results. The best search engines to use are Google, Yahoo, Ask, and/or MSN.

When the Internet was brand spanking new, everyone was encouraged to narrow their search results by using Boolean terms. This permitted the searcher to searching was very popular " this allowed a person to confine their search by using the terms and, and not, and or. Initially this worked very well " until search engines assigned different meanings to these words. Today, we can limit our results by using three simple symbols which are double quotes, the + sign and the " sign.

Double Quotes ( "" ) this tells the search engine that the result must be exact and that your keyword phase must be returned in the result. For example IRS tax forms.

A plus sign (+) between the keywords you are searching for . The results returned by the search engine will have all of your keywords, either in the title, the URL or on the webpage. An example would be download+legal+forms.

The minus sign (-) use this when you do not require a particular word to be returned. For example, Tax forms " Canada.

When all else fails, take few more minutes and click on the search engines advanced search tab. Advanced Search varies amongst the search engines, however, you just need to fill in the appropriate fields and the engine does the work for you. It is much faster to use the symbols, and 95% of the time you will get the returned result you were seeking. - 15790
